Reason for Position

Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test, modify, and maintain operational performance related to fire alarm, Fire Suppression and Building Automation systems

Expected Results

Ensure work is installed on time and in accordance with project design and specifications

Essential Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, submittals and product manuals to properly program and verify new systems
  • Performs preventive maintenance and corrective actions on assigned accounts
  • Conducts testing and inspections as assigned
  • Diagnoses cause of electrical malfunction or failure of operational equipment
  • Responds to emergency service calls as required to maintain systems operations
  • Repairs or installs system and electrical components as required, keeps systems in top working order
  • Installs Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression and Building Automation
  • Communicates with client to inform on general equipment conditions and status of equipment repairs
  • Works with Service Account Manager to build client relationship
  • Completes and submits service work orders, inspection sheets, equipment requests and other paperwork on a timely basis
  • Maintains and operates service vehicle to company standards
  • Performs other duties as directed by manager

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to speak/read English
  • Willingness and ability to travel, if required, to out-of-town locations and remote job sites
  • Proven track record for completing tasks on time and independently with minimal supervision


Education/Experience Required

  • High school diploma
  • Associates Degree or certificate from trade school in Electrical and/or instrumentation area of study
  • 1 3 years field experience
  • Valid driver's license


Equipment Used
Field equipment includes hand-held tools, power tools, ladders, etc. Ability to use a company provided laptop and/or tablet.

Work Environment
Field work could be conducted in and around IT Data Centers or outside of the building.

Physical Demands
Ability to climb ladders, crawl through duct work, kneel on or below floor tiles. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 100+ lbs.
